June 15, 2018

It wasn’t clear at first that medicine would be Gail Weingast’s calling. Way back in 1969, nearly a half-century ago, she attended Tufts University’s Jackson College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish. While she didn’t see medicine as a an immediate calling, something changed, since she soon attended the Boston University School of Medicine, which is where she became Gail Weingast MD in 1976. That was only the beginning. Now, she is considered among the top radiologists anywhere.

She has certainly made up for lost time. These days, Dr. Gail Weingast is well known and highly regarded as one of the finest radiology specialists in New England and the nation. She can currently be found at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut, where she has been for more than two decades. Now the Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging, she has managed to make many improvements in that hospital’s radiology department, transforming it into one of the top departments in the country. Of course, Dr. Gail Weingast’s path to her current position wasn't always a straight line.
